Nitrox

What Is It?

A varied mixture of Oxygen & Nitrogen. Normal air mix is 21%, Nitrogen 79%and 21% Oxygen. Nitrox varies these concentrations, the most common being 32% Oxygen/68% Nitrogen and 36% Oxygen/64% Nitrogen.

These mixes dramatically increase bottom times in the 60 to 130ft range.

Specialized training is required since the the normal air dive tables are different and Oxygen poisoning becomes a major factor.

Many dive computers feature both air and  a variety of Nitrox calculations.
