Open Water

Small Classes (4 max)
4 Classroom Sessions over a 2 day period
4 Pool Sessions over a 2 day period
4 Open Water Sessions

(includes text, tables, logbook & C-card)

Note

These sessions are tailored to your schedule. I meet with everyone prior to class start and set up a schedule of events. With small class size, it's really easy to find amenable times for everyone. I can combine sessions, reducing the number of meeting sessions, but extending the class times so no material is lost. For example, class 1 & pool 1 typically take 4 hours, however if we do 8 hours on a Saturday, we can accomplish Class 1&2, Pool 1&2 all on the same day. I actually see a lot gained since there is a lot less lag time with equipment set up time, travel etc

Rescue Diver

People With Disabilities

I am certified to instruct people with disabilities to dive thru the Handicapped Scuba Association (HSAI)

The candidate diver must complete all of the skills & class required by the classic agencies...(NASE/WASI, PADI, NAUI, YMCA, SSI, etc) plus some additional skills. Though the skills must be performed by the candidate...assistance may be necessary. This determines the level certification the diver receives. The level indicates the degree of buddy support required. There are three levels of certification

Classes are small, one to four students and pool work is performed at the Cocoa Beach Rec Center pool which is ADA compliant and maintained 80 deg year round

Cost are variable depending on the disability and buddy requirements

Open Water dives are held in Key Largo at a resort that meets most ADA standards

Fish Identification

This program is sponsored by the  Reef Organization. This is a widely respected environmental program that helps determine the health of our reefs. South Florida is very active, however there is a major void in central Florida for these type of studies and you can sure help. Fish species that you identify and count are sent to a world wide accessible data base. This data is accessed by scientists and marine planners. With the fish declining at such drastic rate, your inputs can help save a major industry, fishing, locate pollution sources etc.

Class cost includes membership in Reef, a student kit with a slate and underwater writing paper, instruction on to record the data and submitting the data to the Reef data base. You will be trained to identify up to 68 fish species
